We visited the Grand Hotel Tremezzo after our stay at Il Sereno. It was a tough act to follow.
Upon arrival I was immediately struck by the size of the Grand hotel. It certainly looked majestic standing proudly at the edge of the Lake. Entering the hotel is like stepping back in time. There’s a lot of plush velvet fabrics and dark wooden features, chandeliers feature in most rooms. The hotel oozes traditional opulence.
The hotel offered fantastic facilities. There’s tennis courts, 3 swimming pools, one of which ‘floats’ on the Lake itself offering tremendous scenery. There is a beautiful spa called T Spa. Hotel guests can take advantage of the aqua thermal journey, indoor infinity pool, and relaxation rooms any time of the day. I really enjoyed spending my afternoons in the spa. There is an extensive ESPA menu. I enjoyed an aromatherapy massage.
There are a number of dining options in the hotel. Our favourite was L’ESCALE TRATTORIA & WINE BAR. It is much more contemporary than the main dining room, offering traditional Italian cuisine with a modern twist. It’s definitely worth taking in both restaurants the TERRAZZA GUALTIERO MARCHESI offers magnificent views of the lake and traditional silver service. It is a very romantic setting. Every morning hotel guests can enjoy breakfast in this room.
Bellagio is located directly across the lake from the hotel. You can take the hotels private boat across, or the ferry is only a 5 min walk away. We visited Bellagio multiple times during our stay the crossing doesn’t take long and the ferry is frequent. There are some lovely shops and restaurants to take advantage of.
